UNFIX NYC 2025: Disturbance
Film Festival with Virtual, On-demand Screening April 1st - 15th, 2025
Online, Zoom
This is the 9th Season of UNFIX NYC!!
This year, Unfix NYC 2025 will include a Film Festival with an on-demand virtual screening April 1-15! We invite you to both contribute to and experience the Film Festival!
Our theme for UNFIX NYC 2025 is "Disturbance." Disruptions to our social and ecological systems can have profound effects, from the catastrophic to the regenerative. How have disturbances affected your life and your relationship with your community and the natural environment? Can we be sensitive to disturbance and also resilient in response? We are looking for movement/dance film submissions that reflect your idea of “Disturbance.” Some ideas of subthemes include interruption, resonance, disconnection, transformation, turbulence, equilibrium, but submissions are certainly not limited to those interpretations! We are accepting submissions of finished work that vary in length from microshorts (under 3 minutes) to longform (up to 20 minutes), as well as performance documentation / hybrid films. Submissions (including links to the final films) will be accepted via this form until Friday, March 14, 2025. More details are in the form. We will announce a winner from each category and an audience choice winner after the virtual screening period! For more information about UNFIX NYC 2025 or to get involved, please email [email protected]. We look forward to hearing about your work and learning about your thoughts & passion! |

About UNFIX and UNFIX NYC
UNFIX NYC is a collaboration between UNFIX festival and RenGyoSoh. The broader UNFIX festival is a festival for performance and ecological activism based in Scotland, founded by artistic director Paul Michael Henry. UNFIX NYC seeks to address Ecological crisis and renewal through our Bodies, Minds & Souls and aims to raise ecological awareness through arts. What is 'ecology'? Ecology is the study of all living beings on this planet and their relationships with each other and with the physical environment. In our UNFIX NYC festival, we broaden the definition of ecology to include how we can live embedded within ecological systems in a way that supports those systems, ourselves and each other.
UNFIX NYC aims to raise ecological awareness through arts. What is 'ecology'? Ecology is the relationship between all living beings on this planet and its study. How we can live without destroying, harming, and hurting each other? The world is not a 'fix'ed place. The world is continuously changing; evolving; we are changing. RenGyoSoh has been holding the NYC version of the UNFIX festival in a local space since 2016. (MORE ABOUT)
