Breathing is the most important thing in my practice. And it is the most challenging practice. In voice work, I have been learning how to let go of my breath in order to free own voice. In acting craft, I have learnd (and still learning) how to not control my breath in order to follow my impulses, and it is one of most challenging things to all actors/performers, because we constantly protect ourselves to not be vounable. At the same time, I have been learning how to control breath in my Yoga practice in order to control our mind. (and furethr purpose.) In Butoh practice, we are learning between those two state of mind. Being free, being vaulnable, and at the same time controling our breath in order to own our will power. It is balance. balance and unbalance those two. the between. I believe if we practice our breath, we can apply it to our daily life. It is not only for performers, but also for all human beings. This is one of the reasons I continue to share this practice to the society.
